Filming a swimming event The Bantham Swoosh

This is an annual open-water swim of 800 participants in aid of Open Water the charity. It’s in Devon in July, and is down 6km of the River Avon to Bantham.

The weather was great after an awful night of wind and rain, so I used a 16ND filter on the drone.

On the way I captured a few video bits on the phone of nature and local interest to set the scene later in the edit.

From about 30 minutes of drone video I use about 15 seconds, if that. Save the raw footage for another day.

I flew low to avoid the wind and capture the swimmers up close.  Also to evade the pesky seagulls. The logo of the event I downloaded, and the big wooden letters: as I filmed them on the phone one of them fell down in the wind, so I reversed it in the edit. Use hashtags when you post it on your Instagram, it attracts more viewers.
